Why review Amazon PPC weekly?
PPC data is noisy day to day. Weekly review creates enough distance to see patterns while still catching waste, missed harvesting opportunities and budget problems before they compound. The exact data window can vary by account and sales volume; the important point is to use a consistent decision window and avoid overreacting to isolated days.
The 7-step weekly review
Account summary
Review total sales, PPC sales, organic sales, spend, ACoS, TACoS and orders. Compare against the prior period before drilling down.
Spend exceptions
Find campaigns and targets with material spend and weak or zero return. Separate genuine waste from targets that simply do not have enough data yet.
Winning searches
Look for converting customer search terms that are still living only inside discovery campaigns or loose match types.
Negatives and duplication
Review irrelevant searches, duplicate targeting and whether harvested terms should be controlled more deliberately.
Bid rules
Apply a consistent bid strategy: target ACoS or profitability logic, thresholds, minimum/maximum limits, and any campaign-specific exceptions.
Budget and product reality
Check out-of-budget campaigns, inventory, price, conversion rate and listing changes. Advertising cannot compensate indefinitely for a product or stock problem.
Action log
Record what you changed and why. Next week, review the result rather than starting from memory.
What should the weekly report show?
A useful weekly report should not be a wall of campaign metrics. For most sellers and clients, the core story is:
- Total sales versus the previous week.
- PPC sales and ad spend.
- ACoS and TACoS.
- Organic sales or PPC share of sales where available.
- Major winners and problem areas.
- Actions completed this week and what should be watched next.
Consultant use
For consultants, the weekly review is also a delivery standard. Running every client through the same review order makes account work easier to delegate, explain and audit. See BoostPPC for consultants.
Where bid optimisation fits
Bid changes should come after the account summary and exceptions, not before them. A rule can be sophisticated or simple, but it should be understandable: what condition triggered the recommendation, what action is proposed, and what limit prevents an extreme change?
